I am passionate about web design and development! I enjoy the challenges of creating an inviting user experience by blending technology and art. With a solid background in computer science (20+ years) and user interface/web design (15 years), I believe that I can create websites that exceed expectations.


Software Engineer 4 (2011 – present)

Harris Healthcare Solutions (Melbourne, FL)

  • Product Owner – Harris Patient Portal. Responsible for commercial product development of both a web-based and mobile product. Manages software development team; coordinates with system architects, product managers, and quality assurance to ensure successful product development. Reviews and guides web-based product design.

  • Software Lead – Lead team in the UI design and prototype implementation of an extension to MyHealtheVet for the VA. Prototype allows a veteran to view and download radiology reports with images. Developed wireframes and reviewed with large stakeholder community. Implementing prototype using an agile methodology (scrum). Utilizing: Object oriented design (MVC), Java, JSP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, iText, Eclipse IDE, TFS.

Software Engineer 4 (2002 – 2011)

Harris Government Systems Division (Melbourne, FL)

  • Software lead on multiple projects (information processing, communication management, medical demo). Responsible for technical management/development, cost, and schedule. Utilized: C#, Java, Swing, SQL Server, Web Services, ComponentOne Studio for WinForms, Visual Studio.

  • Human Factors Engineer – GOES-R. Performed systems requirements analysis on UI and Human Factors requirements. Devised creative solution for handling Section 508 requirements that was very well-received by the customer.

Software Engineer (2001 – 2002)

DGI Technologies, Inc. (Melbourne, FL)

  • Performed analysis, design, and development tasks for the UI component of a commercial application in the home entertainment industry. Utilized a variety of handheld devices (iPAQ, Palm, Handspring), various operating systems (Linux for handhelds, Palm OS), and several languages. The device receives user screens that are represented in XML via HTTP over a wireless (802.11b) connection.

Software Engineer 4 (1991 – 2001)

Harris Information Systems Division (Melbourne, FL)

  • Chief Software Engineer - STAT Analyzer. This commercial product integrated a variety of tools to provide a more comprehensive analysis of security risk

  • Software Lead - IAS program. Primary technical responsibilities include: requirements analysis, UI design, and implementation (HTML, C++, JavaScript). Managed team of ~15 software engineers.

  • Developed a pattern-matching application for classified data fusion IR&D.

  • Lead a study effort for a general Natural Language Understanding system to perform information extraction. Designed a custom pattern language which is implemented in CLIPS, C, and Sybase.

  • Supported several small proposals and small research projects. One proposal included the development of a major demonstration. Led the Harris team and designed and implemented 20+ UI screens to display and manipulate fingerprint images. (C, Motif, XWindows, BuilderXcessory)
